Marera Valley Lodge
Used for the first Karatu-area overnight after Tarangire and again for the last safari night before the Lake Manyara day.
A longer Tanzania group safari covering Tarangire National Park, the wide Serengeti plains, the wildlife-rich Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara National Park, with pickup and drop-off in Arusha town or your Arusha hotel.
This 6-day group safari is built for travelers who want the northern circuit to feel less rushed. You begin in Tarangire, continue into Serengeti with more proper wildlife time, transition through Ngorongoro, then finish with Lake Manyara before returning to Arusha. It is one of the strongest shared routes for guests who want a fuller Tanzania safari experience.
Both options follow the same extended northern circuit route and shared safari format. The main difference is the style of accommodation.
Best for travelers who want a lower-cost extended safari while still enjoying the same parks, guiding, and wildlife experience.
More comfort after game drives, with well-positioned stays in Karatu, Serengeti, Ngorongoro area, and the final night again at Marera.
The route is designed for better pacing: start with Tarangire, continue into Serengeti with extra wildlife time, move through Ngorongoro, then finish with Lake Manyara before driving back to Arusha.
In the morning, you will be picked up in Arusha town or at your Arusha hotel and join the group departure for the safari. The drive leads to Tarangire National Park, a park known for its giant baobab trees, seasonal wildlife movement, and especially strong elephant sightings.
Tarangire is an excellent opening day because the game viewing often feels close and varied right from the start. After your game drive and lunch, you continue to the Karatu area for overnight. For the lodge option, this night is at Marera Valley Lodge.
After breakfast, you leave the Karatu area and continue toward the Serengeti via the Ngorongoro highlands and conservation area. This transition is one of the most scenic on the northern circuit, gradually shifting from cooler upland landscapes into the vast plains that define the Serengeti.
As you approach and enter the park, wildlife viewing begins en route to your overnight stop. The Serengeti is famous for its scale, predators, and classic open-country safari atmosphere. By evening, you arrive at camp or lodge for overnight.
Today is dedicated to a full day in the Serengeti, which is what makes this extended route stronger than the shorter versions. More time in the park gives your guide greater flexibility to focus on the best wildlife areas depending on recent sightings, season, and animal movement.
This is often the day when the Serengeti really opens up for travelers—more time for predators, plains game, and the rhythm of the landscape itself. You return to camp or lodge later in the day for another overnight in Serengeti.
You continue with more game viewing in the Serengeti this morning before beginning the drive toward the Ngorongoro area. This gives you one last wildlife session on the plains and helps make the route feel more complete than the faster-moving versions.
After game viewing and lunch, you travel out toward the crater rim area. The change from the open plains back into cooler highland country shifts the feel of the safari and positions you well for the crater descent the following day.
After breakfast, you descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most concentrated wildlife areas in Africa. The crater floor supports an impressive mix of animals in a relatively compact area, making it one of the best places in Tanzania for strong game viewing in a shorter time frame.
After your crater game drive and lunch, you leave the crater area and continue back toward the Karatu side for overnight. For the lodge option, the last safari night is again at Marera Valley Lodge, giving a comfortable base before the final day.
On the final day, you visit Lake Manyara National Park, known for its groundwater forest, escarpment setting, birdlife, and varied habitats packed into a relatively compact area. It offers a different feel from both Serengeti and Tarangire, which makes it a strong finishing stop on this extended northern circuit.
After your game drive and lunch, you begin the return journey to Arusha. Arrival is usually later in the day, with drop-off in Arusha town or at your hotel. This closes the safari neatly for travelers staying in Arusha or continuing onward from town.
For the lodge option, these are the accommodation choices used for this itinerary, depending on availability and operational planning.
