4 Days from Arusha to Tarangire, Serengeti & Ngorongoro

The route is simple and effective: depart Arusha, begin with Tarangire, continue into Serengeti for big-game viewing, then transition toward Ngorongoro before descending into the crater and driving back to Arusha.

In the morning, you will be picked up in Arusha town or at your Arusha hotel and join the group departure for the safari. The drive leads to Tarangire National Park, a park known for its giant baobab trees, seasonal wildlife movement, and especially strong elephant sightings.

Tarangire gives a very good opening safari day because the wildlife often feels close and varied from the start. After your game drive and lunch, you continue to the Karatu area for overnight. For the lodge option, this night is at Marera Valley Lodge.

Karatu Area → Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you leave the Karatu area and continue toward the Serengeti via the Ngorongoro highlands and conservation area. This transition is one of the most scenic on the northern circuit, gradually changing from cooler upland landscapes to the vast plains that define the Serengeti.

As you approach and enter the park, wildlife viewing begins en route to your overnight stop. The Serengeti is famous for its scale, predator activity, and classic open-country safari atmosphere. By evening, you arrive at camp or lodge for overnight.

Today begins with more time in the Serengeti, when wildlife activity is often strongest. Your guide will focus on the best areas available based on current sightings and general movement. The Serengeti is especially rewarding for travelers hoping to see lions, hyenas, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and large plains game in a classic safari setting.

After the morning game drive and lunch, you continue toward the Ngorongoro area. The shift back into higher ground changes the feel of the route and prepares you well for the crater descent on the final day. You arrive for overnight near Ngorongoro.

After breakfast, you descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most concentrated wildlife areas in Africa.
