The Marangu Route is often called the “Coca-Cola Route” due to its relative comfort and popularity. But make no mistake — the journey to Uhuru Peak is still a serious challenge, and our guides ensure you’re safe, supported, and inspired every step of the way.
Day 1 – Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut (2,700m): Begin your trek through lush rainforest, spotting monkeys and exotic birds. Hike for about 4–5 hours. Overnight at Mandara Hut.
Day 2 – Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut (3,720m): Ascend through moorland terrain with views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Hike 5–6 hours. Overnight at Horombo Hut.
Day 3 – Acclimatization at Horombo Hut: Spend the day adjusting to the altitude with a short hike to Zebra Rocks or Mawenzi Ridge. Overnight at Horombo Hut.
Day 4 – Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut (4,703m): Hike across alpine desert toward Kibo, preparing for your summit. Hike 6–7 hours. Early dinner and rest at Kibo Hut.
Day 5 – Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) & Descend to Horombo: Begin your summit push around midnight. Reach Uhuru Peak by sunrise, then descend to Horombo Hut. 12–14 hours of trekking total.
Day 6 – Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate: Final descent through rainforest. Collect your summit certificates at the gate. Transfer to your hotel in Moshi/Arusha.
Day 7 – Departure Day: Optional cultural tours, airport transfer, or relaxation day.
